Remember February, when we all went to CUNA GAC in Washington and thought, "Wow, what a great line-up of conferences we have for 2020"?

Remember March, when we thought maybe they would just be postponed to later in the year?

Part of what keeps us sane these days is finding things to get excited about. Like putting energy into re-thinking virtual events, so that, one day, they can have a magic of their own.

Here are our five picks for the rest of the summer:

1. An alternative to traditional demos

August 10th, Marketing Automation Solutions Demo Day, hosted by CULytics

Solutions Demo Day aims to make it easier for buyers of marketing automation software to connect with the best providers.

IIn this three-hour format, solution providers will demo their platforms and answer questions. Buyers can tune-in for the whole demo session, or strategically drop-in to learn about specific solutions. It is a high-impact, low-risk environment, to learn about how these solutions may help your credit union navigate the current scenario.

If you are in the research and discovery phase of a buying cycle, this is an easy and low-commitment way to gather information and compare vendors.

Prisma Campaigns will be doing a live demo.

2. A conference that fits easy into your calendar
CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council Virtual Conference Collection

CUNA M&BD Council - 2020 Virtual Conference Collection, September 10 and 15

While there's no point comparing anything virtual to an in-person happy hour by the pool, in the middle of the winter in Florida, we are so delighted that CUNA will have a Virtual Conference Collection – a set of sessions especially selected from the original 2020 conference agenda. And did you notice it's two separate days, a Tuesday and a Thursday? We could have never done that with an in person event!

This conference has credit union marketing and business development attendees as its primary audience. It promises to be a great opportunity to reconnect with peers, nurture relationships and spark new ideas. And we will take a rain check, or rather a "covid check", for the happy hour.

Registration and details here.

3. An intimate summit for inspiration and networking

CULytics was one of the first to announce it would move its much-awaited summit to an online format, and we applaud them for that. This has always been one of our favorite events. It has a mix of attendees across all business functions, and lots of interactions and opportunities for networking. People come back with a lot of fresh ideas, as well as valuable contacts. Not a minor challenge to make that work online!

In addition to virtual booths and a networking platform powered by Brella, CUlytics got experts adapting its already great content to this new medium. They told us to be ready for some high-quality, fast-paced, professional production. We can almost smell the coffee during the breaks!

Prisma Campaigns is a silver sponsor of the summit.

Check out all registration options here, including a promotional offer to sign-up for a 3-month trial of associate tier CULytics membership at $125, and get access to summit plus other benefits.

4. A by-invitation Fintech Expo

Fintech Expo

We have been selected to present at the 2020 FinTech Expo for MEMBERS Development Company (MDC) and its owners.  MDC is a collaborative R&D company focused on innovation and solutions for retail operations of its owners (products, channels, member experience, and technologies).  It's owned by 73 large progressive credit unions spread from Alaska to Miami, and from San Diego to Long Island, with 16 million members, 40,000 employees, and an average of $3.3 billion in assets.
Their first expo was in 2019 and had such positive feedback that the second one was scheduled for early August in Chicago. It is now a virtual event we are excited to be part of.

Sure, in-person events, as our friends from Unconventional Ventures so well put it, are hard to replicate. We will never forget our first 7 minutes of Finovate. Good thing we have this video, in case we get really nostalgic.

But if one thing that is "cliché-clear" today is that we have to move on and not wait for things to get back to what they used to do.

Looking forward to seeing you "out there" from the comfort of your home.
